One thing that I want to do as a mom is to make holidays really fun and magical for my children. I just think that they are a great excuse to make memories together as a family. My daughter is only 2, so I know that she won’t remember the things we do now, but I am hoping that by starting now, I will be in a good habit of celebrating the holidays (even the minor ones) when she is older. I TOTALLY failed in this department for Valentine’s Day–although she did go on a special date with my husband. But I wanted to find a cute and easy craft for us to do together for St. Patrick’s Day.
I found the cutest crafts over at the Crafty Morning blog. I feel like the trick with picking crafts is choosing one that is not only cute, but one that a toddler can actually do most of (with my help, of course). We ended up doing on with a pot of gold and a rainbow, and I think it turned out really well! And she had THE best time.
Here’s what you’ll need for this craft:
- White card stock (I am attaching a document that has a pot of gold in the corner)
- Washable Finger Paints
- Gold Glitter or Confetti
- Adorable toddler wearing either just a diaper or one of your big, old paint shirts
I feel like the craft is pretty self-explanatory. But, just in case it’s not, you simply dip your child’s finger in the each of the different colors of the rainbow, and help them make a rainbow that is coming out of the pot of gold. Then, you glue gold glitter or confetti around the top of the pot. You can also add some 4-leaf clovers, again using your child’s fingerprint.
I must warn you that things may get a little messy…
And, your child may not be the only one who gets in on the mess…
So, if you’re looking for a fun, easy, cute–albeit, kind of messy–craft to do with your toddler to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, this is the one for you!!!
