Fostering Early Literacy

For today's What to do Wednesday post, I thought I'd write about something super simple, but also something that is really important--fostering literacy in our young children.  Let me tell you why I feel so strongly about this. For 4 years, I taught school in Title One, low-income schools.  The first one I taught at was here in Arizona, and I taught only English Language Learners.  I loved those kiddos with all my heart, but oh, boy!  They were so…

Lessons from Dad

In honor of my dad's 66th birthday, I have compiled a list of important things I have learned from him (either because of his example, his words, or his actions) that I want to teach my own children.  Here they are, in no particular order. Back to School Book Giveaway

Adeline and I love books.  Like a lot.  Baby Girl could spend 30 minutes at a time (which is a LONG time for a 16 month old) reading books, and we often do.  I don't know about you, but I tend to get a little bit tired of reading the same books over and over and over again.  So what better way to help you "Make Your Monday Count" than by doing a giveaway of some of the best children's…
