Poppy Chow

Okay, so there is something very important that you should know about me.  Peanut butter and chocolate are my favorites.  I mean, I love them separately.  But together... HEAVEN!  Peanut butter M&M's, buckeyes, Reese's... You name it--I love it.  So when Jeff suggested that we try this delectable treat, I couldn't turn it down. For one of Jeff's Father's Day gifts (besides the handmade part), we got him an air popcorn popper.  Air popped popcorn--as opposed to microwave popcorn--is also…

Strengthening our Faith

We hear a lot and talk a lot about faith in our church. Often times it seems like kind of an abstract concept and difficult to obtain. We talk about how we need to strengthen our faith, and even discuss the ways we can do it—go to church, read your scriptures, pray—you know all of these answers. But do we ever really talk about WHY those things work? HOW does reading the scriptures help us strengthen our faith? Today I'm going…

Because One Day, She Won’t Need Me

On Flexible Fridays, I will be writing on many different topics--really, on whatever strikes my fancy at the time (hence the reason it's called "Flexible Friday").  Today, I will write on a topic that is near and dear to my heart.  I hope I can articulate what I want to say in a way that makes sense and can give you a glimpse into my heart. The first few months (maybe even the first 7 months) of my daughter's life…

Father’s Day Gifts

Today's What to do Wednesday post is all about Father's Day!  I am so excited to show the finished product(s) of what we did for my dad, Jeff's dad, and for Jeff himself. To be honest, I am not very creative.  I really wish I was, but I'm just not.  And I am NOT artistic.  I think I was the only elementary school teacher ever who didn't even draw stick figures very well.  So, I always have to search Pinterest…

Scheduling

My whole life I've wanted to be a stay-at-home-mom when I grew up.  Well, now I'm grown up, and I got my wish.  And I am so so thankful.  But, it has been really hard for me sometimes.  I find myself getting down really easily--especially when I can't take my daughter outside (which means most of the winter in Utah, and most of the summer in Arizona).  I sometimes have a really hard time feeling fulfilled and staying motivated.  There…

Sedona!

Part of my plan to get Jeff to like Arizona, is to get him out of the valley at least once a month, and go somewhere that is at least a little bit cooler (not that it's too hard to find somewhere cooler than 115 degrees).  The place I was the most excited to take Jeff was Sedona.  I went there several times when I lived in Arizona a few years ago, and it is one of my most favorite…

Baby Food Pouches

This week's Thankful Thursday post is about a product I have absolutely loved over the past several months.  Adeline has always been quite the independent child--well, in some ways.  She won't let me go to the bathroom by myself or take a shower without her trying to climb in with me, so I guess she's not quite as independent as I would like.  But in other ways, she is quite independent.  For most of her life, she tended to be…

Texas Roadhouse Rolls

We have church at 8:30 am on Sundays.  8:30.  In the morning.  That means we are done by 11:30 am.  That makes for the LONGEST afternoon and evening ever.  It has been kind of hard being away from our families, but on Sundays is when we really start to feel isolated.  That was usually the day we visited both sets of parents and Adeline got to see her cousins, too.  It's not that we don't like spending time together, but…

Scripture Study

For any of you who know me, you know that I really enjoy studying things of a spiritual nature.  I especially like studying from the scriptures.  It really is kind of a hobby for me.  Recently, I have had a few friends ask me for tips and tricks to making their scripture studies more effective.  Now, I am not an expert by any means.  But I thought I would just post something about this, jut in case someone could benefit…
